Our son, his wife and their little daughter have left for New Zealand. Our son speaks German fluently and he and his wife want their daughter to learn German as well. They read German stories, and they sing German songs with their little daughter. To get me involved, even though I am far away, they asked me to start " Omi Ingrit’s Märchenstunde" - to read German poems, and Fairy Tales for my little Granddaughter.

So I started podcasting! After the first two published poems Hanno’s wife got involved, as the little daughter will start to listen to German, she also wants to learn German. So I started "Ingrit’s Deutschstundfe". I looked at the little poems, wrote down all words and sentences and created phrases for her to learn. I spoke my phrases twice, so that it may be easier to follow and I sent along the text as pdf files to read. Now the family in New Zealand is quite busy: my son has to save my podcasts on his I pod, the little kid is listening to Omi Ingrit’s Maerchenstunde, and the Mom is learning German! I plan to publish one or two poems or little stories and one lesson per week and I hope, when I see my family again, all three can talk to me in German!

And I have fun doing the podcasts!
